Johnstown Pennsylvania 1889 - The floods killed 1000's. This particular photo is of the John Schultz house at Johnstown, PA after the flood. Neatly skewered by a huge tree uprooted by the flood, the house floated down from Union Street to the end of Main. Six people, including Schultz himself, were inside the house when the flood hit. All of them survived.

Hollywood Land - 1923
A slightly different view of Hollywood. This was taken around 1923 when movie making in Hollywood was in its infancy. A boom was taking place and building just starting. Notice the famous sign is a little longer than we are used to!

Bus station during segregation times
Bus station in America. The signs are the really interesting aspect of the photo. "Hitler's love life revealed", "Bingo Tonite!" Is the chap reading them? I am guessing this is mid 1950's deep south. Updated! Durham NC, 1940

Eskilstuna Sweden: Steam Trains
Eskilstuna is a city in the North East of Sweden. I am guessing this picture is taken around the late 40's. Wooden station and steam trains carrying rocks. All the staff are posing for the photo and if you look carefully the station platform is full of people too.
